CHAPTER 2
I WAS RESTLESS that night, hoping Captain Olaf would make his move. I lingered on deck, but he didnât seek me out. Would he come to my cabin? Would he seduce me or would I have to be the seducer? My father used to say Norsemen didnât move quickly when it came to intimacy. We once had a Swedish neighbor who took ten years to ask his childhood sweetheart to marry him. I didnât have ten years, or even ten days. I had two. We would land in New York City on the morning of the fifth day.
By midnight I knew he wasnât coming. I went to bed, touching myself while picturing Olaf sinking his cock deep in my vagina. I pinched my nipples, imagining Olafâs tongue laving them to stiff peaks. After I came, I lay in my berth, wondering why this man affected me so much. Was he just my type of man? I would have thought my other lovers also to be âmy kind of man.â Olaf was certainly not like my other lovers. They had all been happy to have a sexual encounter with me, and rose to the occasion without preamble. Olaf was gruff, reserved. He was a challenge to be won. Sternly reminding myself not to get emotionally attached this early in my education of male/female relations, I drifted off to sleep.
On the third day of our voyage on the Frigga, I noticed something odd. Wherever I went on the airship, Olaf seemed to appear shortly thereafter. It didnât take a genius to put two and two together. I thought about confronting him. I was a little annoyed about last night, but it felt good to know he was, just maybe, as fascinated by me as I was by him. I nodded and wished him âgood dayâ whenever we crossed paths, until my smile must have resembled a Cheshire Catâs.
After retiring to my cabin to change for dinner, there was a knock on my door while I was still in my robe. I had just finished my hair.
Sally opened the door. I heard Captain Olafâs voice, so I hurried into the sitting room. âCaptain Olaf? Come in!â
âHello, Mrs. Blume.â He stepped into my cabin and Sally closed the door. When Olaf saw my intimate apparel, his weathered face flushed even more red. âOh, now is not a good time. I will come back.â He turned to escape out the door.
âWait!â
He looked back at me.
âWhat are you doing here?â
He cleared his throat. âI just wanted to invite you to dine at my table tonight.â
âYour sister already asked me.â I cocked my head and pursed my lips before smiling. âAny idea why she seems determined to put us together?â
âWhat makes you so sure she isnât putting the two of you together?â His grin was entirely too cheeky, and ridiculously out of character.
My eyes widened. âReally?â
He laughed. âNo. I just wanted to see what youâd say.â Apparently Olaf had a sense of humor.
I smiled archly. âWell, that depends on you.
